District Taco

A Mexican immigrant’s dreams of moving to the United States in pursuit of being an entrepreneur became a reality when he was just 18. He was forced to overcome many obstacles in an effort to immerse himself in a new culture. A particularly difficult point in life was when the 2007 economic crisis hit and Osiris was laid off, thereby being forced to start all over.

Osiris refused to be discouraged and with much hard work and dedication discovered his passion for combining his Mexican culture (most notably in the form of his mother’s recipes) with his new American lifestyle. In 2009, Osiris joined with his neighbor, Marc Wallace, and they got together over some homemade chips, salsa and guacamole and decided to launch District Taco as a food truck in Rosslyn.

Ten years later, District Taco is still growing enormously; operating 13 locations spread across Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, with ongoing plans to expand rapidly. We continue to provide the surrounding community with not just the best Yucatan-inspired food, but also with countless opportunities to grow and develop with the District Taco team.

Osiris Hoil and District Taco is the epitome of the message of the American Dream. The history is one that shows the power of never giving up on your dreams, no matter how challenging life gets, or what obstacles might stand in the way. The story continues to inspire others to vehemently pursue their dreams. So, to all you dreamers out there; as we say, “Orale!” which means “Right On!!”
