Tacos, enchiladas, Margarita Mason jars, and much more!
Chaia is an unconventional taco shop serving insanely delicious tacos made entirely with vegetables. Yes, vegetables. But not just any vegetables. Only the freshest, local, (and whenever possible organic) vegetables inventively prepared from scratch, and combined with spices, house-made salsas, and other tasty toppings—all tucked inside a handmade, griddled corn tortilla.
Chaia has two locations in Washington DC: one in Georgetown (3207 Grace Street NW) and a second in Chinatown (615 I Street NW).
Chaia is where fine food and fast casual meet. We offer counter service without a mind-boggling cafeteria line to pick your way through. We’ve carefully created the tacos, you just pick how many and which vegetables strike your fancy. I often tell people we are Vegetarian for Carnivores. Of course, if you’re vegan and don’t want cheese, or love it super spicy, we can customize accordingly.
We care intensely about sustainability, and composting, and the environment, and eating less meat to save the planet. But the thing we care about most is that our tacos taste damn delicious. Because then, all the rest is possible.
Founded by Bettina Stern and Suzanne Simon, Chaia is a female led, female run business that believes everything’s better in a taco and making the world a better place starts with the food we eat. From a stand at the Washington D.C. farmer’s market to our first Georgetown spot – and our second downtown, Chaia is expanding in the nation’s capital and beyond.
